Are you considering newborn photography but have some questions?
If you're a new parent, you're probably overwhelmed with all the decisions you need to make. Newborn photography doesn't have to be one of them. Let me guide you through the process and provide you with all the information you need to capture the early moments of your baby's life.
Let's dive into some of the most common questions about newborn photography.
“What should I look for when hiring a newborn photographer?”
Firstly, it's important to decide what type of newborn photography you're interested in having done. There is traditional newborn photography and lifestyle newborn photography. With traditional newborn photography, more wraps and props are used such as baskets. These photos are typically just baby and require more time to account for outfit/wrap changes and of course, feeding and changes. Lifestyle newborn photography is meant to reflect the natural moments in time with baby. For these sessions, baby is mostly in your arms and a lot of these sessions take place in the home. These lifestyle sessions is what Wonderfully Made Photos offer! Regardless of which type of newborn photography you choose, it's important to choose a photographer who specializes in that type of newborn photography and has experience working with infants. I have years of experience with families and infants. I'm dedicated to providing a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for you and your baby. I understand the importance of capturing these early moments, and I take pride in creating beautiful, timeless memories that you'll cherish for years to come.
“What can I expect during a newborn photography session?”
During a newborn photography session, I'll guide you through the posing process. These sessions will have a relaxed and natural feel as you hold and admire your baby. If baby needs to be fed, soothed or changed during our session, we take a break! You can include siblings in the photos as well. If you have any specific poses in mind, I'm always happy to incorporate your ideas and preferences into the session.
To capture the best moments, it's important to schedule your newborn photography session as early as possible, ideally within the first two weeks of your baby's life. I recommend booking your session as soon as possible during your pregnancy to ensure availability.
“Do I need to provide anything?”
With in-home sessions, I require an area that has a big window for lighting. This could be the nursery, your bedroom or even your living room. For baby, I suggest one outfit as well as a backup outfit. I bring a Moses basket, some wraps for swaddle photos and a few headbands for girls. I also have a client closet for moms that is available for these sessions!
"Is there a studio option instead of in-home?"
Yes! If you'd rather have your session outside of your home, I rent out a room out of Skye Studio on St. Laurent Blvd. to accommodate this. These sessions are $380+HST for 1 hour. Please contact me for more details!
"How much is an In-Home Newborn Session and what is included?"
In-home newborn sessions are $300+HST and include all viable edited images which are delivered via an online gallery for you to download. Sessions are up to 75 minutes long. There is an option to add more time if you feel you require it! I suggest adding more time if you have multiples or other children who will be part of the session!
"Do you offer a Maternity and Newborn Bundle?"
Yes! You will save $75 when you book both your Maternity and Newborn Session at the same time. Click here to look at our Maternity portfolio.
